Checking In From My Break
As most of you know, I’m taking a break from my weekly writings while I’m teaching a course at my law school, but since I posted last week I thought I’d at least check in again. When I’m not working on my cases and my classes, I’m paying close attention to what’s happening in Ukraine and praying for its citizens. My heart is broken every time I see an interview of a Ukrainian who has been displaced from their home or in fear for their life. The sights and sounds of the brutal attacks on millions of innocent people and their homeland are overwhelming, as I’m sure you know. It’s hard to stand by and watch what’s happening while the U.S. and NATO refrain from direct military involvement, and yet I understand why that may be the wisest course. And despite the overwhelming numbers, I increasingly believe that the Ukrainians are going to win this war; it’s just a question of how long it will take and how many lives will be lost before they do.
I saw the picture above on social media yesterday, and thought I would share it. It purports to be a photo of a mural painted on a street in Cardiff, and the city in the weeping eye is Kyiv under siege.
Pray for the people of Ukraine! They are an inspiration to us all.
